Image Manipulation Project: Research

As part of my research, I looked up what is Origami. Origami is naturally a traditional Japanese art or technique of folding paper into a variety of decorative or symbolic designs. Different shapes have different means but that doesn’t mean that they need to have a deeper meaning.

I did look at some videos on YouTube on how to make some different animals from paper. For example, a fox, an elephant, and some bunnies.

I have also searched up Julia Fullerton’s work where people wore animal like heads and being in a forest to get some inspiration for my work. What I really looked at in those images are the forest settings and the lighting which I could probably incorporate into my own project.

I went on a walk to find a forest like setting on one of my days of on sunny day. I ended up stumbling on a forest on my journey. I took many different pictures so that I would have a broad choice for the background for my project.

Recently I have thought more about my project. I have decided that since paper animals existing and being actually alive is unbelievable and unrealistic that I would add a bit of a magic effect to my final piece. I searched for a photographer that does magical photography and uses effects. Eventually, I have found a Photographer going by Alexandra's Lens. This photographer does many photos that seem magical but what mainly caught my eye were the sparkle effect that she put in some of her work. So, I have decided to impliment the sparkle effect into my own artwork.
