"favourite irish fairy tales" the children of lir illustration

 this faboulous illustration comes from the book "Favourite Irish Fairy Tales". The book itself  is filled with many stories, and each story has their own illustrations to display some of the characters and and what's happening in the story. This particular image comes from the tale called "The Children of  Lir". It is an astonishing image show one of the characters from the story turning into a swan. In the story King Lir's wife has died and left him with four children, he later remarried with his belated wife's sister Aoife. She was jealous about the fact that her husband loved his children more than her so she went to a druid and asked for help. The druid gave her a magic wand which she later used to turn the four children into swans when she brought them to the lake the next day. It is truly a magnificent illustration showing one of the children slowly becoming a swan. It has a lot of detail which just makes the illustration even better.
